Welcome to Warwickshire Independent Advisory Groups

Your voice in the Policing of Warwickshire Independent Advisory Group

Warwickshire Independent Advisory Groups purpose is to:

‘Provide advice to Warwickshire Police to help recognise the diverse policing needs of communities and deliver a fair service which secures greater trust and confidence’

Formed in July 2005 the Independent Advisory Groups are made up of members of the public who have volunteered their time to offer Warwickshire Police a new and external perspective based on their personal views and experiences which contribute to finding ways of improving the force's policing services to meet the needs of all sections of the community.

Independence is our watchword as we exist to constructively challenge and question how the force polices and to provide feedback, ideas and views on its policies and functions.

We are here to add a new dimension to the way Warwickshire Police think about their service provision. We strive to ensure that we:

  • Provide advice to Warwickshire Police that helps them recognize the diverse policing needs of communities and to deliver a fair service which secures greater trust and confidence.
  • Provide critical analysis of documents.
  • Identify ways to improve open and effective consultation between Warwickshire Police and communities.
  • Get involved in training as required for example in dealing with stop and search and critical incidents.

Currently we have a:

  • Strategic Independent Advisory Group
    that includes sub groups for:
    • disability,
    • LGB+T and to be established
    • young persons
  • 5 geographically based District/Borough IAGs for Rugby, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Atherstone and Coleshill, Leamington, and Stratford.
