Achievements of the Disability Advisory Group

We have engaged in the following areas

  • Equality Impact Assessment Training in order to assess police policies for any disability discrimination
  • Policy readings, discussions and advice
  • Disability access/facilities review of Leek Wootton HQ,Warwickshire
  • Accessible Toilet installed
  • Signage and Automatic doors installed
  • A Fire Evacuation procedure at HQ resulted in new policy being underwritten
  • EVAC /Wheelchairs purchased by the Force
  • Warwickshire Police Stations review for DDA compliancy.
  • Nuneaton Justice Centre review including accessible toilet in Custody Suite for DDA compliancy.
  • Student Police Officers Disability Training - "Stop & Search" "Transporting disabled people to Court"

  • The new Disability Equality Scheme for Warwickshire Police

  • The review of Hate Crime and ASB procedures
  • HQ parking policy
  • “Operation Rome” Equality Impact Assessment. (Right First Time Service)

The DIAG are currently advising on the new Leamington Justice Centre and imminently will be reviewing disability access/facilities at the “Safer Neighbourhood Teams” Offices.
