Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire IAG

Welcome to the
Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire IAG

The Nuneaton and Bedworth IAG developed from the Race and Religious Incident Review Panel that was set up in 2003. Initially the local Superintendent chaired the group and the aim was to review how the Police had dealt with racist incidents or racially aggravated crimes, these incidents were selected by members of the community involved in the panel. The meetings were held on a quarterly basis with a frank exchange of views being encouraged. The remit for group expanded and they became involved in advising and assisting the Police with a number of different matters. By September 2006 the group had become the IAG and had an independent chair. The group continues to work closely with the police addressing many matters affecting the community. Members of the group are on hand to help the police and have turned out at critical incidents. The numbers of the group vary at the now 6 weekly meetings but there are approximately 20 members of the community involved with the group. These people represent a cross section of the community with male, female, representatives from many religious groups, housing groups and gypsy and travellers.

Recently the group has been expanded to include North Warwickshire to ensure that people from this area have an opportunity of contributing to the work.
